4 Discussion rooms are available to book during all hours the Learning Commons are open. These rooms are available in the Learning Commons (JS Gericke Library). Each room has seating for approximately 4 people and is equipped with a white board and plasma screen. A minimum of two and a maximum of 8 people are allowed to use the room at one particular time. One Laptop can be booked out on request at the Info desk in the Learning Commons.
All students, academic and administrative staff of the University may use the seminar rooms free of charge during the learning Commons opening hours. Keys are available at the Info desk in the Learning Commons. Only students with valid student cards will be issued the key to the booked discussion room.
Students are not allowed to book more than three session at different times and rooms in one day. Tutors are allowed to book more than one session at different times in one day as long as the sessions do not go over 4 hours.
A minimum of 2 and maximum of 8 people are allowed in a room at a time – during quiet times (June/July and December Holidays) a room may be booked out to one person. Take note that the discussion rooms can only be booked until 21h45 Mondays-Thursdays during term times. Also take note of the shorter times the library is open on Fridays, over weekends and holidays. The same rule applies Tutors PLEASE arrive on time or cancel you booking if you do not want the room you have booked. If a student is more than 15 minutes late, the booking will be cancelled. It is your responsibility to clean the whiteboard before you leave and to return any equipment belonging to the Learning Commons.
When a group in the discussion rooms would like to take a break the following procedures must be followed:
The group only get 20 mins break time and then their belongings will be removed and kept at the help-desk in order to free up the room for other students who would like to use the facilities.
